Researching all of my family genealogy is a passion for me. What frustrates me are the common misconceptions people make. I am part of 3 cousins of different Hicks lines all sharing the same line to me and another cousin they are great Grandparents, to another they are 2nd Great Grandparents. That really helps we triple check each other and have our own methods of research.
Lately I have been looking at English ancestors through records and found a lot of interesting facts. We have 15 generations done on the Hicks line back to the mid 1400′s which leads me to other Hicks who lived in England and trying to figure out if they match our line.
Sir Baptist Hicks 1st Viscount of Campden is not. Almost everybody under the name of Hicks claim him, Sadly, no he only had two daughters who survived. I have added articles in a number of sites trying to clear this up for all of the Hicks family.
Someday I hope a lot of light bulbs go off. I also mainly hope that my work can help others and maybe someone has the piece of the puzzle.
I have learned that I now have 2 Ancestors connect to the Mayflower, one on the Mayflower a Hicks on the 2nd ship all included in the Mayflower Compact.
Always remember genealogy is like gossip,
Just because a lot of people say it's true doesn't make it proof!
